Career Summary

Mr. Hart is a passionate SCM leader with more than two decades of supply chain management experience across multiple industries with global scale.  He has led teams, developed strategy, and executed successfully within a broad range of disciplines including strategic procurement, operational purchasing, inventory management, supplier relationship management, sustainability, lean, supplier diversity, strategy development, VAVE, enabling technology, eCommerce, and related supply chain services.


Caldwell Hart recently served as the first SVP Supply Chain & CPO for Turtle and Hughes Inc., a $750M industrial distributor and services company.   With a focus on process, policy, inventory management, and metrics improvements.  An area of focus was on Sustainability and ESG, metrics, assessments (EcoVadis) and how to leverage to differentiate the company in the market and provide a solutions focus to customers.  


Prior to joining Turtle, he served MKS Instruments, a technology solutions company, serving the advanced markets and semiconductor industries.  As MKS’ first CPO he led teams responsible for S&OP, demand & material planning, inventory management, supply chain acquisition integration, global commodity management, operational purchasing, SCM functional excellence and SCM enabling technologies, as well as Transportation & Logistics. 


His experience also included Dresser-Rand, a Siemens business focused on engineered to order equipment for the Oil & Gas industry.  His tenure included leading the organization as interim CPO as well as merger integration leadership for SCM after the firm was acquired by Siemens.  Over his twelve years with Dresser-Rand he held a series of positions of growing responsibility across a range of SCM disciplines at both the corporate and divisional levels. 


In the course of his SCM career his teams included responsibility for global direct material/indirect strategic category management., SCM ERP platforms, SCM enabling technology (e.g. spend analytics, Source to Contract), merger acquisition integration, transportation & logistics, real estate, process innovation, demand management, eRFx, supplier risk management, compliance, supplier diversity, spend management, supplier lean, procure to pay, CAPEX, corporate quality assurance, process innovation, organizational development, and metrics that created competitive advantage by focusing on total cost, quality, On-time Delivery, lead-times and profitability.


Areas of focus/interest: Sustainability, SCM optimization, Procurement, SCM technology, spend management, performance metrics (TCO, Quality/COQ, On-Time Delivery, and Lead-Times), supplier risk/relationship management, supplier development, supplier diversity, organizational effectiveness, demand management, compliance matters, and “lean” business operations.


He has held numerous roles in Supply Chain Management and operations management since 1998 across a range of industries including Diversified Manufacturing, Pharmaceuticals, Aerospace & Defense, Oil & Gas, and Financial Services with the following firms:  Turtle & Hughes, MKS Instruments, Dresser-Rand Siemens, Bristol Myers-Squibb, United Technologies Corporation, and The Vanguard Group.  He has served on various industry group advisories, ISM’s Supplier Diversity committee, and as a conference speaker.  Mr. Hart is a Certified Professional of Supply Management [CPSM] and Certified Professional of Supplier Diversity [CPSD].  He served on ISM’s CPSD exam re-accreditation review team.  He served as the VP & Secretary for The Hotchkiss School Alumni Association Board of Governors, chairing its membership committee.  He earned his MBA from the Darden Graduate School of Business at UVA and his BA from Washington & Lee University.
